Indonesian GS/GSA

In Indonesia the GS is introduced in 1974 with production lasting at least until 1991. This is veru remarkable, since th BX was introduced in 1982 as replacement (in Europe at least). This long production run makes the Indonesian GSAs the last produced cars. Or so to say the newest GSAs.

The GS was introduced in Indonesia in 1974. They where locally manufactured. Further there is very little data available about these cars. Therefor I welcome any new information. The following types where produced in Indonesia:

• GS from 1974 until 1983 (hatchback and estate model)

• GSA introduced in about 1984

• GS Cottage 1984 - 1985

• GS Chic 1986 - 1987

• GSpécial 1989 - 1991 (GSA-based model)

The model range in Indonesia is somewhat remarkable. Since The GS Cottage and GS Chic where produced here. These truly where GSs. Fully equiped as GS, but with the specific parts of the GSA Special editions.

Most of the Indonesian cars were equipped with quad headlights. The engines were the normal engines from the European cars. Air conditioning was also available as option in Indonesia. The picture underneath shows an Indonesian GS Cottage Break, together with some normal GS Breaks. The Cottage is the second car from the left.

The GS in the background is most likely a GS Chic	This looks more like a GSA Cottage Break than a GS Cottage Break, altough the doors are GS, the bumpers and rearview mirrors are GSA		A GS Cottage Break, notice the metal bumpers

Fitting an airco to an aircooled car... well it is possible. An airco was an option in Indonesian GSs, see the extra large oil cooler in this car.	An Indonesian GS Service
