My Xantia 1.9 D SX Tentation

My Xantia 1.9 D SX Tentation

So in september 2003 I bought dads Xantia. By then it had covered 190.000 kilometers, which is normal to low for a Diesel of that age. I think a Xantia can be seen as a super BX, its shares all the great virtues of the BX (space, economy, comfort, reliability) and Citroen has managed to improve the weak points. Weak points in my opinion where the single whiper arm, which sooner or later gets worn out from the weight it carries, the cables to the passengerside rearlights which come directly from the otherside, they often get stuck or pulled out, since they come through the trunk. Of course the rear arm bearrings, which need to be replaced sooner or later at every BX, but mostly every 200.000 kilometers. The Xantia is improved at all these points. Besides that it feels more solid and sophisticathed than the BX.

Although I needed some time to get used to the design of the Xantia, when it was introduced in 1993, I now quite fancy it. You can see the lines of his predecessor in it The basic equipment of the Xantia is good, although the engine which is the same as in my BX, is somewhat on the small side for this car. It preformes ok, but there it has no extras. In the BX I never experienced anything like this, but I suspect it is mainly due to the less weight of the BX (the BX Diesel weights 1031 kilo whilst the Xantia Diesel weighs 200 kilos more). Other than that I am very pleased with the Xantia.
